rides & Rides

Seems lately the only time I have to write is on a monday! Things are just soo hectic right now – not that I’m complaining – love the “hustle & bustle” of it at the moment…

#monsterman, #hubbinator & I went to a little GEM of a Place #EDEN (Stellenbosh) – although it was a bit deserted – it was fun to see my little man enjoy himself & learning new tricks! Seems like he needs to upgrade from his little black bike to a balance bike or something similar.
Other accessories he’ll need:
And maybe some leg & arm protection pads.

We’re treading on somewhat uncharted ground as we’re looking at getting a newer vehicle. So on Friday we made a pitstop at #Burchmores and had a bit of a look around and found something very practical for us as a family – the Renault Kangoo – its got space for us, 2 bikes & other luggage so if we take it there might be the odd chance of a road trip to JNB

Some pix:
1) #monsterman on his bike
2) Our possible new baby

Should be an interesting next few weeks as we decide what to do…

Till next time

(personal uodate)

1) #monsterman is doing really well with potty training – we made him a “reward chart” (Barney themed) on Tuesday night – for a boy who only started a week ago he’s doing extremely well, even takes himself to the loo if he’s playing or watching a movie. Also proud to say (as only a mother would) that he’s made his first Poo in the loo on monday — aaaww, my baby is getting rid of every last bit of what kept him a baby in my eyes, 1 by 1! Sad really!!!

2) We’re planning a little wedding vow renewal for our 5th wedding anniversary. Have the theme and photographer sorted but everything else is pretty much still in the dark. Been getting a few quotes from venues and all I can say is I’m sooo glad that we’re planning on keeping it small! Venues are soooooooooooooooo freaking expensive! So for now we’ve pretty much decided to have a picnic in a forrest – wild flowers – ooh I can’t wait to start on the finer details!

3) We’re learning to compromise! #hubbinator goes riding every weekend & I get a night out with the Girls once or twice a month – I think this is good!

4) I’m sorry if I offend any one with this blog, but this is where I am free to be myself & to those peeps who have a problem with who I am – if it offends you, don’t read it! I can even recommend other blogs for you to read! So if you’re looking for something more melow or entertaining email me!

Till next time

being chased by Baboons, a merry-go-round & chatting to a Celeb

we woke up early yesterday morning, had brekkie and got ready for a nice family day out (post rapture & wanting to see who all we’ll be missing hehe

#hubbinator took his #stinky (Kona DH bike) with sou our first stop was Tokai Forest – never in my life had i been so scared – as we signed in and took the walk up past the guesthouse some #riders came down & warned us that there were lots of baboons out all over the tracks, usually they don’t bother people but yesterday was different somehow!

for those of you who haven’t been there it’s one heck of a walk (on a good day without carrying your 3year old & his bike on your hip) to get to the “Big Berm” where #hubbinator usually spends his time. so just as we past the guesthouse and got to the first bit of single track (on the right) one baboon was walking on the left – already i was feeling anxious, we’ve never taken #monsterman to the forest so i was shit scared & all that went through my mind at that moment was “Hold onto #monsterman”

well not 5mins later another baboon joined the first one & i froze! i could literally feel that something was about to happen. then this baboon started going”huh huh huh” & another baboon came charging down towards us (we were just innocent bystanders had nothing to do with their little domestic fight) the 2nd & 3rd baboons started to attack each other less than 4 meters away from us (all i said to #monsterman was to be quiet & not be scared, daddy will get us out of this) so #hubbinator told us to run Up the hill – easily done without your 3year old clinging to your for dear life! – somehow we got up half way when the 2 baboons started chasing each other in our direction – what do you do in a situation like that? well I took #monsterman from #hubbinator and ran down the hill again!!!

luckily more #riders came down and stopped by us (suppose the masses would scare the baboons off!!) and just kept asking us if we were okay, if someone got attacked, is every one alright – well except for my nerves being shot & #monsterman vowing never to go to “the baboon place” again we were okay!

#hubinator gave me the car keys (dangerous on most days as i refuse to drive – i can i just refuse to) and said that #monsterman & i should go to The Barnyard (just down the road) I was literally too shaken up to think straight so I asked him if he would mind much to go drop us (which means: he has to get out of his body armour, pack up the #stinky, go drop us & go back to do some riding) luckily for him he agreed 🙂

#monsterman ran off to go play in the sandpit when we eventually settled on a table, ran around telling every one that he was chased by baboons – little monkey of mine – even told Michael Mol’s little Nat. A good friend of mine joined us with his 2 little girls, we had a lekker chat – we dont meet up often which makes me appreciate moments when we do – his girls had a ball!

when #monsterman was about to get onto the merry-go-round #michaelmoll walked past & (probably the dumbest celeb “pick up line” ever) all i said was “glad to see the arm’s healing up nicely” i felt so blind afterwards lol cause after that we kept bumping into each other (not that Barnyard is huge or that it was busy, but still) everytiem he saw me he just gave this sly smile (i can so see why his wifey married him – Cuteness galore!!! & much better looking in real life than on TV)

well i will try & post some pix of our adventure a bit later

but for now

i have to sign out & go P

chicken pie – ala ME

I decided this morning that I’m making supper – was in the mood for a pie tipe thingum so, after galavanting the whole day I ask #hubbinator to just get me a cooked chicken from either Spar or Woolworths & mushrooms.. Kinda figured I’d just go with it…

So here’s what you need:
1 x Rotisserie Chicken (Medium sized +- R50)
1 x punnet of Mushrooms (sliced)
3 x Carrots (sliced)
3 x Baby Marrows (sliced)
1 x Onion (chopped – finely)
1 x Puff Pastry roll (ready rolled)

How to do it:
Heat a bit of oil in a big pan, pop the mushrooms in & mix in a bit of Garlic, Black Pepper & a bit of Fennel and put the lid on. Leave for about 5 mins stirring occasionally.

Mix in the onion & fry till onion is light brown.

Mix in Carrots & Baby Marrows and let fry off till Carrots are tender.

While the above is cooking off, take all meat off and chop fine.

Mix meat into veggie mix. Stir through.

Let mix stand while you line your pie pan with 1/2 roll of puff pastry (remember to either spay your pan with Spray n Cook or just rub a bit of butter in it – get the corners)

Mix about 1/2 a pack of Mushroom soup in 250ml boiled water and stir into chicken mix.

Pop chicken mix into the pie dish – flatten a bit & put a thin layer of grated cheese on top.

Cover with 2nd half of pastry and “paint” with egg.

Pop in a pre heated oven (180 degrees C) for 40mins or golden bown in colour.

And that’s it – bon apetit!!

Serve with a Green salad. Serves 4 – 6

Rapture day – 21 May 2011

So according to Mr. Family Radio himself – it’s rapture day today!

I sorta know that I’ll be staying behind (should this happen) as for the past few years my relationship with GOD just didint grow – I feel like HE let me down! Soo many people (me including) spent days prying for #lil Bubbles! – in the Bible it says “ask & you shall receive”. One would think that with soo many people asking for her to be healed – it would actually happen! BUT it didn’t….

So ever since then I’ve kinda refused to go to church, stop praying and basically given up on religion.

Then I moved from JNB to CPT met #hubbinator, moved in together 2 weeks later, then decided to move in with his folks – not a bad thing in general!

Except that my FIL is one of those “Doomsday” prophets, proclaiming since I’ve met him that the end of the world is today -21May2011- so this morning he looks a bit nervous! White in the face and shaking like a leaf.

I bet he’s wondering if its really gonna happen…

  2. In a skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove to paper towels; drain, reserving 1 tablespoon drippings. In the drippings, saute the mushrooms, green pepper, onion and garlic until tender; add to tomato mixture and heat through. Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain and place in a serving bowl; top with vegetable mixture. Sprinkle with bacon and Parmesan cheese.

  2. Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat, and cook the chicken until browned on all sides. Add the wine and bouillon. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes, until chicken is no longer pink and juices run clear.
  3. Remove the toothpicks, and transfer the breasts to a warm platter. Blend the cornstarch with the cream in a small bowl, and whisk slowly into the skillet. Cook, stirring until thickened, and pour over the chicken. Serve warm.
